The YAEL project was initiated by Anna Woźnicka,
an artist who has been involved with Jewish musical culture for many years.

One of its core ideas was to create an artistic space
where Jewish music could be juxtaposed
with traditional sounds and patterns from other musical cultures.

To achieve this goal, YAEL invites musicians who specialize primarily in ethnic music
and who are open to improvisation and musical experimentation.

YAEL also draws on the repertoire of synagogue music
and invites artists with a more classical performance background
to collaborate in music-making.
